Welcome to Year 2
A warm welcome to the Autumn Term in Year 2 where our learning centres around our topic themes 'Roll Up! Roll Up!' in the first half term and the 'Great Fire of London' in the second half term.
Already this term we have had our wonderful 'Launch Day', hosted by Andrew van Buren, a local circus performer and magician who taught us circus skills and bewildered us with his tricks! He told us all about the local historical figure Philip Astley who founded the modern circus and how the area is celebrating his 250th anniversary.
See below for some of the curriculum areas we will be learning this term. Our children are already very excited for the term ahead and have lots of ideas about how they would like to enhance the themes and the direction we should take.
As part of our new whole school partnership with PE providers ASM, Y2 have already had their first yoga lesson! We can now complete the resting sitting pose, the cobra, giraffe, lion tiger pose and many more. Ask your children to share these with you and join us in our healthy mindset. PE days are Monday and Thursday for Autumn 1. Please note, no jewellery is permitted during PE lessons.
Roll Up! Roll Up!
We took lots of photographs of our wonderful day at the circus and will be uploading more very soon. Here are a few just to give you a taster and we even had time to prepare clown face pizzas to take home for tea after our busy day!
