Foundation 2

Welcome to the Foundation Two class page.

The staff in the Foundation Two Class are Mrs Stokes (Reception Teacher), Mrs Mercer (Early Years Practitioner) and Miss Bentley (Early Years Practitioner).

Each member of staff has a key group; your child will either be an Nemo in Mrs Stokes' key group or a Dory in Mrs Mercer' key group.  We use these key groups as circle times to develop our communication and language, through conversation and turn taking games.  Miss Bentley works with small groups of children from both the Nemos and the Dorys to support their learning and development. Please see your child's allocated key worker if you have any questions/concerns.

The day runs from 8:45am until 3pm.

We do offer an Early Years Club every Monday 3.15pm until 4.15pm, if you wish for your child to attend please discuss with a member of the Early Years Team.  This Term Early Explorers is open to perspective children and parents. If your child is 3 years old in September and you are thinking about joining our school please speak with a member of the office team. Current Foundation One and Two children are also able to attend Early Explorers with Mrs Stokes.

Our PE session in the hall is on Friday, we do ask that the children have a PE kit in school for this session.

A member of the Early Years team is always available in the morning or evening at the classroom door to pass on any messages. Appointments can also be made at the school office.

Our Topics

Our Topics this year are selected by the children. They share their interests and what they would like to learn, they then decide on a focus and what activities they might like to take part in. This is completed every week, topics may stretch if the children show an increased interest. Have a look at Our Learning Journey to see what we have been learning.

Why not ask your child what we have been learning this week? What they would they like to learn next week?

Home Learning

Your child should have a reading book, a library book and reading record,  this should record any reading your child does in school or at home. Please ensure this is recorded in their reading record daily.

You will also receive a weekly review of your child’s learning every Friday from your child’s class teacher and a school newsletter every other week.
Please look out for these because they are a key source of information about the school.

This is our rainbow home learning, we ask that they are filled out and returned to school. These will form part of our learning journey display to show wow moments of learning at home.

Thank you.

The Foundation Two Staff.
