Spring term Newsletter
Dear Parents / Carers,
For the Spring term, the topics in Year 6 are ‘World War II’ and ‘Britain Since 1948’, which will be taught through our English sessions. In the second half of spring term, there will be a focus on Natural Disasters, where the children will have the opportunity to write non-chronological reports and produce some journalistic writing. As part of English, we will complete daily guided reading sessions and SPAG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar) lessons.
PE will take place on Wednesday afternoons, so please make sure your child has their PE kit in school!
During our maths lessons, we will be teaching algebra, data handling, shape, space and measures and will be revising our work on fractions, in order to consolidate learning.
In science this half term, we will be learning about how to keep our bodies healthy.
Homework, mainly comprising a piece of Maths and a piece of English work, will be issued each week on Thursday with the expectation that it is returned by the following Tuesday. If you have any concerns or queries about your child, please speak to any member of the Year 6 team.
Many thanks for your continued support.
Miss Ward and the Year 6 team
